Park City, Utah

After Christmas, we were able to spend a whole week in Park City, Utah at my parents "cabin". This was Anna's first plane trip and first time in Park City. She did fabulously. Can you believe the snow??? I think there was close to 4 feet of snow while we were there, perfect for some outdoor activities!
Uncle Jeremy and Uncle Christian were gracious enough to take Grace out to sled a few times while in Utah. Believe it or not there was so much snow it was actually difficult to sled! What's up with that?
We ended 2010 with a ski day at Park City Mountain Resort. It was COLD, below zero for sure with windchill, but we dressed with the appropriate gear and face masks and it wasn't too bad. I even talked Zach into going skiing, we both are lousy, so it was some tough convincing but he came out of pity for his big sis. Pictured above are the skiers from left to right: Zach, Me, Dad, Christian and our lone snowboarder Jeremy. David couldn't ski this trip because he has a hernia, bummer!
Perhaps the highlight of the vacation was ski school for Grace! She attended ski school from 9:45AM-4PM on New Years Eve while we were all out skiing. Grace had a wonderful time, it was pretty much a big intro into skiing. She learned to balance, stop and was able to ski down some little grades by the time the day was over. Skiing was broken up into 2- 90minute sessions and in between those sessions they played indoors and had lunch and snacks.
This is the kid corral where the 3-5 year olds stayed most of the time. Grace is riding the "Magic Carpet" around in this picture, it was meant to give them a sense of balance and movement before they tackled the real snow. By the very end of the day we caught Grace on the bunny hill with her instructor, she skied down maybe 50 feet or so and then they would walk back up and try again.
Happy to see Uncle Zach after a long hard day of skiing!

What a fun and relaxing week we had! We also tried cross-country skiing one day, I was horrible at that, boy is that tough work. Next time I think we will try an additional day or two of skiing...Grace definitely would have liked another day.

Happy New Year!
