Day 31

On Saturday, we decided to head down to Branson, MO for an overnighter. On our way down, we decided to pull off and take a look at Fort Leonard Wood (Army Base). We thought there was no way we'd be able to get on since we aren't in the military. Anyway, we couldn't turn around once we got to the MP stations, and they needed to see all of our IDs. My ID happened to be in the trunk, and being the intelligent person that I am, I tried to get out of the car at the checkpoint to get my ID out of the trunk. That is not cool. So they had us pull over to another guard station, and they needed one of us to get out and they were going to possibly search the trunk. I get out, and Dave tries to pop the trunk (rental car) and he pops the gas tank instead and the friendly MP says "Uh sir, you popped the gas tank, not the trunk" which get me laughing and David looks like a moron as he spends way too long trying to pop the trunk. Anyway, the checked our IDs and let us on to see the museum. We were shocked they just let us on without the usual search, and other documentation. This story is probably only funny to me, but since this is my "diary" for a year, I had to write this down. The past 2 days I've been using the "uh sir, you popped the gas tank..." line way too often. The museum was really fabulous by the way, if you ever find yourself driving around Southern Missouri someday...
